How can we be more specific with our rotator cuff rehab
The rotator cuff has multiple complex roles.
It stabilises the glenohumeral joint against displacing forces produced by the surrounding muscles, counteracts the rotational forces from these muscles and contributes to rotational movement of the shoulder joint.
It has to do this seamlessly under varying speeds, loads and shoulder joint positions.
By improving our understanding of these roles we can be more specific with our interventions, enabling us to move beyond standard ‘rotator cuff exercises’ leading to better patient outcomes.
