Rehab while having Fun: A Playful Approach to injury and pain rehabilitation

22 Nov 2023
Hands-On Hub
Gamifying rehab Following on from John Scriven's talk on Natural Movement we will be exploring ways to facilitate clients exploration, development and enjoyment of movement through play. Thinking about some of the themes such as fundamental motor learning and pedagogy through play (creativity, variability, fun, concentric and non-linear pedagogy, exploration) then adding complexity, (variability, constraints, attraction) and progressing to skill (process to mastery, gamification, implicit/explicit guidance)

Bio: After working in hospitality and as a ski and snowboard instructor I originally qualified in massage as a beauty therapist in 1996 before going on to complete Level 3&4 sports massage at Team Bath and level 5 soft tissue therapy with The School. I run my own full time practice and am currently studying hypnotherapy and training in Feldenkrais method to better integrate aspects of movement and psychology into my practice.
  • This will be an interactive session to allow attendees to translate theory into practice in a safe space to equip them with the insight, skills and confidence to begin to implement playful and meaningful movement strategies to facilitate client goals as soon as they return to their practice next week.
