Hands-On Hub
This session will explore how the big toe can affect mechanics through the rest of the body. That might sound like a big statement but the toe joint is the last point of contact during gait and its range and alignment will determine much of what happens in the rest of the body at toe-off.
Tissue interactions are much talked about but much misunderstood and underemphasised - this session will take you from feeling the effect of loss of range, seeing its implications, assessing the potential problem, and simple skills to help improve range of motion.
- Understanding the functional link between toe extension and the hip
- Passive, Active, and Functional assessment of first metatarsalphalangeal joint extension
- Understanding the use and application of environmental and tissue manipulations for client comfort and benefit
