It’s time to rethink professional roles between Regulated and Unregulated MSK professions
Synopsis:
As healthcare evolves towards a more holistic, person-centred model, it’s time to reconsider the role of professions like massage therapy, sports therapy, and soft tissue therapy. Often practising independently and without the benefit of peer support, these practitioners regularly provide essential safety-net care, support, and continuity to the frustrated overflow of an overstretched NHS.
Despite this their approach is often dismissed or belittled by regulated professions as ‘nice-to-have’ rather than an integral part of clinical care, a care by the way chosen by an informed person with agency over their health choices. This beg the question: if modern healthcare is based on EBP which puts patient s values and preferences as its integral part why their choices of healthcare strategies are not afforded the same importance?
Join Anna Maria addressing head on those ongoing tension in a debate with representatives of regulated professions.
