EMTT - A Game Changer for Chronic Pain?

EMTT - A Game Changer for Chronic Pain?

What is EMTT?

EMTT is a novel technology that harnesses the power of high-energy magnetic fields to provide a non-invasive treatment option with great potential for tissue regeneration and rehabilitation, particularly for conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system. Perfect for patients with acute pain presentation, irritable flare ups, neuropathic pain, diffused pain and degenerative pathologies such as osteoarthritis, EMTT is highly tolerated, even with the most painful conditions such as rheumatic patients.

EMTT uses magnetic fields that have no thermal effect and are pain-free, with the strength of the magnetic field used being approximately less than 10% of a normal MRI dosage. The therapy provides a stable cell membrane and increases cell wall permeability, which is hindered by the aging process and diseases. As a result, the body can repair itself by accelerating cellular activity, with EMTT acting as the key to the cell wall gates, opening them up to allow for the penetration of even deeper tissue layers.

The treatment produces a strong anti-inflammatory effect, reducing pain and inflammation in cases of acute pain presentation, irritable flare-ups, neuropathic pain, diffused pain, and degenerative pathologies such as osteoarthritis. It is particularly ideal for rheumatic patients, where clinicians tend to avoid using shockwave therapy.

The treatments are quick; a typical session lasts between 5 – 20 minutes depending on the indication.

How does it differ from PEMF?

Despite the fact that therapeutic magnetic fields have been used in the past for healing non-healing fractures through pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMF), EMTT stands out with a much higher energy output of approximately 40% greater than PEMF. Additionally, EMTT has a higher oscillation and treatment depth of up to 18cm, making it ideal for widespread pain therapy.

What if I already use shockwave therapy (ESWT?)

While EMTT has many crossovers with ESWT, it offers new treatment possibilities that are contraindicated or too painful to treat with shockwave therapy. While EMTT is an ideal complement to extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT), it is not meant to replace it, as these two devices are designed to treat different conditions. Clinicians should consider adding EMTT to their treatment portfolio as an additional tool. Early adopters of the technology have hailed it as a game-changer for chronic pain and arthritis.

How can I use EMTT in my clinic?

Venn Healthcare are proud UK suppliers of the Magnetolith by Storz Medical. It is the only EMTT device available in the UK and is available with full training and aftercare.
