CSP reflects on NHS 10-Year Plan

PureGym launches wellbeing package for personal trainers 
PureGym has become the first fitness provider in the UK to launch a wellbeing package specifically for their personal trainers. The initiative is designed to support the health and wellbeing of trainers while acknowledging the unique challenges of their roles. This new announcement draws focus to the importance of providing sufficient professional development opportunities for fitness professionals whilst also supporting their mental health and wellbeing. As the fitness industry continues to grow intensely, it becomes increasingly important to focus on those providing key services within in.

New report on non-surgical interventions for osteoarthritis pain 
A new report has been published examining non-surgical interventions for managing osteoarthritis pain. By highlighting evidence-based approaches outside of surgery, the report contributes to discussions on effective osteoarthritis management and informs practitioners’ choices in treatment planning. It reinforces the importance of continuing education on non-invasive interventions to support patients living with osteoarthritis.

GOsC pilots Patient Partner programme 
The General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) has introduced a pilot programme appointing two Patient Partners to ensure the patient voice remains central to its regulatory work. This initiative aims to involve patients directly in regulatory discussions and decisions, ensuring that patient perspectives are integrated into governance processes. The pilot represents a step towards embedding patient input in the organisation’s work and provides a model for how regulatory bodies can include lived experience in their oversight and decision-making activities.

CSP welcomes extension of Level 7 apprenticeship funding 
The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) has welcomed the government’s decision to extend funding for Level 7 apprenticeships in physiotherapy and other professions in England for the next four years. The extension supports continued professional development and access to training opportunities in physiotherapy. CSP has highlighted this funding as an important measure to sustain the pipeline of highly trained practitioners, reinforcing the profession’s capacity to meet workforce needs and maintain standards of care across the health system.
