Dr. Sharon Chan-Braddock is a highly experienced clinical academic and Advanced Practice physiotherapist, specialising in Musculoskeletal (MSK) Medicine. With extensive experience spanning clinical practice, education, research, and quality improvement, Sharon has contributed to MSK advancement at both regional and national levels.
In 2024, she became the first physiotherapist in the UK, and internationally, to achieve dual recognition as a Fellow of the Society of Musculoskeletal Medicine (SOMM) and a Member of the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP), which is a recognition of meeting consultant level of practice and International MSK standards of practice set by IFOMPT.
Sharon has been actively involved in postgraduate education since 2009. She leads the MSc Injection Therapy module at SOMM, also serves as the Advanced Practice Portfolio Route Lead and Executive Committee Member of MACP. Her academic contributions include a strong record of conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications. In February 2023, she authored the 5th edition of The Practical Approach to Musculoskeletal Medicine, a seminal textbook widely regarded in the field.
A passionate advocate for musculoskeletal education, clinical standards, and quality improvement, Sharon is currently Co-Chair of the UK MSK Partnership Group- a community of practice and expert reference body contributing national MSK policy and strategy, representing over 50 professional organisations across the UK.
