Lesley has been a consultant rheumatologist in Newcastle upon Tyne for 25 years. She has broadened her training with masters degrees in Public Health and in Leadership & Quality Improvement. She has been the GIRFT national clinical co-lead for rheumatology since 2018 and the National Clinical Director for MSK conditions since 2024. Her remit includes all MSK conditions across the age range, in all clinical settings. She was previously the deputy medical director at the Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch and is vice Chair of the Northern & Yorkshire Clinical Senate Council.
