Mark Ashworth
GP
Professor Mark Ashworth qualified in medicine from Southampton University in 1979. After initially training in Tropical Medicine he switched to a career in primary care and was a GP in south London for 30 years. He combined his GP career with an academic career, taking his doctorate in 2004 and then moving into full-time academic primary care research in 2016. His main research interests are in multimorbidity, how Long Term Conditions (LTCs) interact, and particularly how Chronic Pain behaves as a component of multimorbidity, as an individual condition, and as an interface condition interacting with other physical LTCs and mental health LTCs.
