Mitchell Hooper

2023 World's Strongest Man, Lift Heavy, Be Kind
Growing up in the small town of Midhurst, Ontario, Canada, Mitchell Hooper began his athletic career by playing on teams for every sport imaginable. He started playing football at the University of Guelph while pursuing an undergraduate degree in human kinetics. However, football didn’t last long, and he sought to experience every element of human performance before embarking on his professional career. This quest led him to bodybuilding and then to marathon running, where he achieved a personal best of 3:24. During this time, Hooper became the head strength and conditioning coach for the KW Titans, a professional basketball team in Canada. Despite landing what he initially thought to be a dream job, he felt the urge to leave a more significant impact on the people he worked with. This drive took him to Sydney, Australia, where he pursued a master’s degree in Exercise Physiology. During his four and a half years overseas, he discovered a strength gym and began powerlifting. Within six months, he won the national championship. His powerlifting success transitioned to strongman competitions, culminating in winning the title of World’s Strongest Man in 2023, marking the best rookie year of all time. He continued his success by winning back-to-back Arnold Strongman Classic competitions in the US and the UK. In 2024, he secured the 2nd place title at World’s Strongest Man, extending his streak to 16 podium finishes, with no signs of slowing down. More importantly, Hooper is a husband, a father, and an entrepreneur. His mission is to inspire others to be healthier in both body and mind through entertainment and education. He owns a kinesiology clinic in Barrie, Ontario, which provides individualized prescription exercises for those with injuries and chronic illnesses. Additionally, he runs an online coaching business and a clothing line, LHBK (Lift Heavy, Be Kind), aimed at promoting kindness throughout the strength community, breaking down barriers and negative stigmas of gym culture, while emphasizing health and kindness.
