GTPS is a common cause for pain on the side of the hip. GTPS is more common in female patients aged 40-60 years of age and with those with pre-existing low back pain, osteoarthritis of the knee and knee pain. Where pain is limiting the ability of the patient to walk and participate in rehabilitation, shockwave therapy has been shown to be effective in reducing the pain in the short, mid and long-term.
